La Montaña – Destination Dining

It has been six months since Mathew Edwards and Carol Van Mosel took residence at Restaurant La Montaña in Campico, and is going from strength to strength.

The converted cortijo situated four kilometres from Bédar on the Lubrin Road is nestled in the small farming village of Campico where guests are welcome to pass the time with local Spaniards at the well stocked bar, or enjoy the delicious a la carte menu in one of the two cosy dining rooms.

The food

The frequently changing menu consists of mouth-watering dishes including a stack of griddled aubergine with local goats cheese, spinach and beetroot, to the shredded leg of lamb served on mash potato, with a red wine jus and Caramelized carrots, finishing off with indulgent home made desserts.

For those who prefer something lighter, as the warmer weather arrives customers may enjoy an Antipasti, consisting of a selection of Iberian Meats, Cheeses, Spinach and Pine nut Croquettes, Curried New Potatoes and Much More and at €10 per plate well worth the visit.

Coming Events

La Montaña have already started their Monthly music and farmers market on the 1st Sunday of the month, with the next Event on April 3 starting at midday with music from Mojacar’s Ashley certainly proving to be popular, a special menu will be available for the day and Mathew is appealing to stall holders of Local Produce and Artisan products to turn up.

They are also collaborating with Trina Doer at the Bédar arts Centre to hold an arts exhibition on Thursday April 14 at La Montaña at 7pm. A selection of wines and cheeses will be the tasting of the day, although the full menu will still be available.
