Ruth Lorenzo all set for RBL anniversary bonanza

POSSIBLY the biggest expatriate event ever to take place in Alicante will be held on Saturday April 2. This is when the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Royal British Legion will take place at the newly-built Auditorio Provincial de Alicante. The programme will commence with entry of the National Flags and the Royal British Legion Standards.

Taking part will be the massed voices of choirs Crescendo, Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir, Coral Classica Javiense, The English Choir and Coral Crevillente, also the Just Brass Band, Torrevieja Pipes and Drums.

The star entertainers will be Ruth Lorenzo the singer from X factor, the classical girl group All Angels and our local girl Cathy Carson.

Another special attraction will be the Spanish Army Display Team.

This prestigious occasion will be the first major event to be staged there.

The Alicante Provincial Government through Lucia Viudes Botella has collaborated with the Committee of the District North Spain RBL and specifically Wendy Dengate Vice-President of District.

A spectacular concert and display has been arranged to mark this occasion.

People from all Legion branches are involved and people from many groups and associations of the Costa Blanca are assisting in some way to make this probably the biggest and best celebration ever arranged by a non-Spanish organisation here on the Costas.

Invitations have been extended to representatives of the Royal Families of GB And Spain, executives of the Royal British Legion UK, European Consulates, Town Halls and local authorities to attend the evening performance.

The venue seats almost 1300 people and there will be two performances of this two-hour long entertainment one at 12pm and the other beginning at 7pm.

During the proceedings there will be a Drumhead Service led by the Bishop of Europe.

Tickets are €12 for the afternoon concert and €15 for the evening.
