Labour International meet in Javea

TORY-LED coalition’s defence cuts and British involvement in the Spanish Civil War were just two of the subjects presented at the February AGM of the Costa Blanca Branch of Labour International held at L’Ancora Tenis in Javea. Former Labour MP for Stoke George Stevenson questioned the wisdom of the Tory-led coalition’s defence cuts, “Considering the current turbulence being experienced in North Africa,” a subject that had the full support of the audience.

Later, lecturer and author Linda Palfreeman, delivered a fascinating talk on the topic of the British involvement in front line medical services during the Spanish Civil War, a topical subject as this year is the 75th anniversary of the historical event.

Labour International Costa Blanca North is a fully constituted part of the British Labour Party and have been in existence for 15 years.

They cover an area from Alicante to Gandia and inland. The central Javea Branch have members living in Denia, Gandia, Javea, Moraira, Benissa, Jijona and Tibi along with a smaller group “Costa Blanca South” based around Torrevieja.
