Sevillanas club gets new status

RAQUEL PEÑA as president and the board of directors wish to make public the exciting news that the Sevillanas Club is now a fully accredited non-profit cultural Association with a new name and logo. In November 2010, the UNESCO named Flamenco dance and music a World Heritage Art form and in celebration of this great honour it was decided to include the word Flamenco in our new name.

Therefore we will now be known as ‘Flamenco for all’ or in Spanish ‘Flamenco para todos’ and the activities of the Sevillanas Social Club, and the amateur flamenco dance performing group will all now be part of this association.

The first meeting for the 2011season will be this Sunday (February 27) at 8pm at The Asturias Restaurante, Punta Prima, where a meeting will be held on the last Sunday of the month.

The Flamenco For All Amateur Dance Group is made up of adults of all nationalities, aged 33 to 75, and is very active and performs in many places, including This is Spain, at the Asturias Restaurant, for the PSOE, and CLARO political parties, and up coming performances include MABS in Los Alcazares, March 26, 12.30pm.

They will perform free for registered charities.

New Sevillanas and Flamenco classes are starting in March at the main studio in Pilar de la Horadada and now also at the Asturias Restaurant.
