Council funded ‘whisky’ councillor’s 22 hams

THE Mayor of Benamocarra, Abdeslam Lucena, has now accused the PSOE mayoral candidate, Jose Antonio Diaz Labao, of spending 176,657 pesetas (€1,067) buying 22 legs of ham and charging the bills to the town hall. Last week, he had accused Diaz of drinking whisky at the expense of the town hall when he was on the council.

This time, he has provided a bill, signed by Diaz, for the hams which he purchased, charging the bill, from 1999, to the town hall, without specifying who they were for.

According to the mayor, Diaz, who was the Youth Councillor at the time “lived well at the expense of the town hall and wishes to do so again”.

Meanwhile, Diaz has responded to the accusations by saying they are a smokescreen to cover up for Lucena’s own errors and expenses.
