Action to protect police logo

FROM now on, shops will not be able to sell items carrying the emblem of the National Police unless they have authorization. The Spanish Patents and Brands Office (OEPM) has registered the National Police emblems as a ‘National Brand’ which bans shops from selling t-shirts, caps, replica badges or patches with any of the logos used by the National Police.

This could now see them facing up to two years in prison for crimes against intellectual property, as well as fines.

One of the reasons behind this is citizen safety, as many gangs were pretending to be police to commit crimes.
