TWELVE people have been arrested for scamming old people in Malaga, claiming they were going to carry out gas inspections. Five victims reported the visits, and claimed that if they refused to have their gas checked or let them in, they were threatened with the supply being cut off.
Police suspect there may be more victims, and claim the men had no authorization and charged three times the normal price.
EWN received a call from a man alerting of what he believed to be false gas inspectors in Casarabonela. He described a man about 1.72m, 70kg, driving an unmarked van and carrying no ID.
Police recommend that people be wary of unsolicited inspections, and when in doubt call the company providing the service, not the number given by the inspector.
