Two Britons arrested for drink driving

Three men, two Brits and a Spaniard, were arrested on the coast for drink driving offences in three separate incidents, Orihuela Town Hall said in a statement. The first arrest followed a traffic accident on the San Miguel road in Tiro Pichón in the early hours of Sunday morning.

An Audi car with British number plates left the road and collided with a lampost.

The driver, 36 year old British resident of Orihuela Costa, who was unharmed in the accident, left the scene on foot before being located by local police officers.

A breath test revealed he was three times over the legal limit, and he was arrested.

The second offence involved a 57-year-old British man, who also lives in Orihuela Costa, who was arrested in La Florida and also found to be three times over the legal limit of alcohol after he fell off his motorcycle on Saturday evening.

The third incident involved a Spaniard, 30,  from Pilar de la Horadada, arrested after driving his Citroen Saxo ‘erratically’ along Avenida de las Adelfas in Campoamor during the early hours of Monday morning.

A breath test confirmed that he was over double the drink drive limit.
