Insurance company to pay out for dog attack

MALAGA – AN insurance company has been ordered to pay €10,000 compensation to a girl who was bitten by a dog in El Pedregal area of Malaga. A Malaga court sentenced the owner in November 2010 because his dog, which had no lead or muzzle, bit the child, leaving her with five scars on her face.

The man accepted the sentence, but the insurance company which would have to pay the compensation appealed, claiming the dog was not dangerous.

However, the Provincial Court has confirmed the sentence, as it is dangerous to have any animal loose and the child did not provoke the attack.
