Last year’s Vuelta Mallorca was a hit
THE high point of Mallorca’s cycling calendar, the 20th Vuelta Mallorca Challenge, gets under way at 11.45am on Sunday morning in the heart of Palma. Twenty one professional teams from across the world make up the race’s largest field to date.
Look out for some big names from the very top of the sport, including the former world champion Öscar Friere, last year’s Tour de France runner up Andy Schleck, and promising English youngster Adam Blythe (returning to Mallorca for his second Vuelta).
After Sunday’s spectator stage in Palma the race visits most corners of the island with a separate trophy race each day before rolling to a halt in Palmanova on the 11th.
