Murcia minister back to work after assault

Murcia’s Culture and Tourism, Alberto Cruz says he feels like “he had been born again” after the brutal beating he received which left him with “psychological damage.” Pedro Alberto Cruz was assaulted by two men, one of whom was thought to have used a knuckle duster, on January 15.

Cruz, a member of the Popular Party, has returned to work since he was released from the Reina Sofia General University Hospital in Murcia.

The beating has sparked a wave of accusations by some Popular Party (PP) leaders who blamed the Socialist government (PSOE) for the attack.

Cruz was targeted by the PSOE for being the nephew of the wife of Murcia’s Regional President, Ramon Luis Valcarcel, according to PP president Mariano Rajoy.

During the assault, the attackers were said to have shouted “councillor, nephew, son of a b****,” which the PP declared supports their theory.
