THE ‘Plan Renove’ subsidised part-exchange scheme for electrical appliances will return at the end of this month. For five years, the Junta de Andalucia has been carrying out the scheme in order to allow people to change their electrical appliances for others which use less energy.
In the past two years, more than 44,000 washing machines, fridges, freezers, air-conditioners and ovens have been brought to shops taking part in the campaign for part exchange.
The new conditions and grants will be released this month by the Department of Economy, Innovation and Science through the Andalucian Energy Agency. The budget is estimated at €16m.
Last year’s programme prevented 12,440 tonnes of CO2 from contaminating the atmosphere in Andalucia. In past years, 1,665 shops took part throughout Andalucia and the most popular product has been the washing machine.
Buyers have nothing to do, as it is up to the shops to apply for the money back. The discount will be included in the price one pays at the time.
To find out more about where to part exchange your electrical appliances, keep an eye on this website, www.agenciaandaluzadelaenergia.es, towards the end of the month.
