NO prosecution will result from the destruction of videos showing interrogators waterboarding terrorism suspects at one of the CIA’s “black sites” – i.e. torture centres – in Thailand.
Waterboarding saves Western lives, argue apologists including Bush, but state-sponsored violence not only produces unreliable information. It corrupts those who employ it and taints everyone who benefits from it, including all those walking supposedly safer city streets.
