THOUGHT provoking research reveals that 123,361 British businesses are in ‘significant or critical distress.’ More than 50,000 of them are at risk as a result of spending cuts.
To counteract the threat UK banks have contributed to the new Business Growth Fund. Its purpose is to provide finance for struggling businesses if they pass stringent tests to suggest viability.
For most it will be too little too late: It is estimated that only £3 – £3.5 million of the £10 million put aside will be made available over the next two years.
