Enjoy the ‘Saffron’ experience

‘SAFFRON’ Indian Restaurant and Bar offers the ultimate experience in Authentic Indian Cuisine with original home style cooking to suit all palates. Saffron is called Azafrán in Spanish, a spice (from the crocus flower) that originated in the sub-continent but grown and widely used here in Spain. It is this Indo-Spanish connection that led the owners to call the restaurant Saffron!

Nestled in the peaceful surroundings of Gran Alacant near Santa Pola, Saffron opened its doors in 2003, to become the first Indian Restaurant in the area, and has maintained its reputation as “the original and best” ever since. Principal Owner, Kanti Mistry has enjoyed a colourful career as an Operations Director, providing a consultancy service to some of the world’s most influential Mobile Phone Operators.

He is dedicated to developing and promoting the business, in order to provide the correct blend of fine foods and warm ambience that clients have come to expect from Saffron. Kanti is joined by Chefs from London and also the provinces of Gujarat and Punjab in India, who appreciate that when it comes to Indian spices every palate is different, so offer a wide range of delicacies combining a blend of aromatic spices, fresh coriander, ginger, garlic and green chilies for the ultimate taste sensation, whatever your preference.

Kanti explained that “The art of Indian cookery lies in the delicacy of the herbs and spices that are used for each type of dish, so in order to be able to satisfy all of our clients, we are happy to offer various levels of heat for almost all of the items on the menu”. For those who like it HOT, Saffron offers the Garam Masala- a combination of dry spices, which are roasted and ground or why not try the steaming hot green chilli?

Those who prefer a milder flavor will enjoy the creamy Korma, Pasanda and the Patia dishes, whilst the Onion Bhajis, Garlic-Chilli Prawn, “Mixed Grill platter”, Chilli Chicken, and Coastal King Prawn Masala all feature on the list of Chef’s recommendations. Authentic desserts include the Mango Lassi or homemade Kulfi (Indian ice cream) to cool down the taste buds. A choice of draught and Indian beer is available, alongside a varied selection of fine wines to complement the meal.

A special “All Day Buffet” is available every Sunday for only 7.50€, when diners may choose from over twenty freshly prepared dishes (Please note that this is extremely popular, so reservations are strongly recommended.) Kanti said that “The Management and staff of Saffron cordially invite you to dine with us and will endeavor to make your experience at Saffron a memorable one, leaving you with a desire to come back again and again!”
