THE world’s first cinema proportion 3D TV was unveiled at the IFA tech show in Berlin by Philips and should be on sale in Europe this month with a price tag of around €3,999; namely the ‘Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series TV’.
It boasts a 58-inch LCD Cinema which can play 3D or 2D movies, and Virtual 2.1 speakers and dome tweeters for a strong sound offering.
While it is geared mostly for movie viewing, there are auto formatting features that ensure that standard dimensions can be chosen for broadcast television, games, etc.
It also has Net TV connectivity for online streaming and multi-view technology for picture-in-picture viewing.
