La Riviera Greek and International Restaurant and bar boasts one of the Costa Blanca’s best views. Situated on the seafront, right above the beach it delivers an unbeatable combination of stunning scenery and delicious home cooked food. Now open for little over a year La Riviera is one of Albir’s most popular restaurants due to its combination of lovely Greek food and a terrace with an amazing view, this place is a must to visit!

We went there last week to try a selection of the dishes. We were welcomed by Jaimie, Darren and Jaimie’s mum Linda(the chef) and made very welcome with a cold glass of their lovely house white. We sat at the ¨Shirley Valentine table¨. This table is right at the end of the terrace, overlooking Albir bay, al the way round to Calpe, simply breathtaking.

We started of with a selection of starters, we had Keftedes(meatballs), Tzatziki (yoghurt dip) and Halloumi (deep fried cheese), the only sounds from our table were ‘ooh and aah’ with delight.

Then for our main courses we shared a Moussaka and Estofado (a beef stew with silverskin onions served in a bowl made of deep fried flower tortilla), this again was delicious. All the food at La Riviera is prepared there and then and this really is evident in the delicious fresh flavours presented here. We were too stuffed for pudding but they do a wonderful selection of desserts and perhaps next time I will have some space left for some home made Baklava, Cherry pie or chocolate mousse?

After the meal, with a steaming cup of coffee in front of us we asked Jaimie about any new things that are going on the menu.

New dishes include a Steak and a chicken breast with choice of three sauces (international but with a Greek twist), Spare ribs and Panga in a delicious white wine & black olive sauce. There will also be a new menu for two, a proper mezes menu where you get to try a loads of different dishes… a bit like tapas.

The menu of the day is also great value at La Riviera, starter, choice of five main courses (and a vegetarian option), dessert or coffee and half a bottle of wine for 9.75 € or why not try the Mix Grill menu for 2 for 30€? they also cater for parties up to 50 people and this year La Riviera has proven very popular with weddings, they got four weddings coming up!

La Riviera is Albir’s place to be for fresh, home made Greek food or just to pop in for a lazy drink on their stunning terrace. We certainly will be coming back very soon, thanks to Jaimie, Linda & Darren for spoiling us! Before I forget… don’t forget to say hello to Larry, the African Grey!

To book a table please call Jaimie on: 672 881 154 or 96 686 5386 or visit them at: La Riviera (inside Hotel La Riviera) Camino Del Faro 1(you take the street up just before you get to the beach) in Albir.
