Costa Almeria bowling news
• 08 May 2008 •
WHEN reporting in March, I promised more information apropos to what is happening in the Lawn Green and Carpet Bowling world during the summer.
Spanish representatives, Peter Bonsor and Lynne Metcalfe, have done very well in the World Bowls Singles in New Zealand, currently both rated in fifth position
The Costa Blanca ‘FEB’ National Open Tournament from May, 10-24, will give an example of the skills we have in Spain. Costa Almeria bowlers are represented in all disciplines, rinks, triples, pairs and singles. The draw for the games and venues has been completed and can be found on:
Bowlinginspain.com.
During the winter season, federated members from the local clubs have competed to be the best pairs players. These will be taking part against the Costa Blanca best pairs in a ‘Champion of Champions’ competition, taking place on June 7-24, at Emerald Isles.
The highlight of the summer events will be when bowlers representing the national sides of Portugal and Spain visit the province. The dates are June 15-16. The test match is played on grass at Cabrera Bowling Club and a friendly on the carpet at Indalo Bowling Club.
Information on all these events can be obtained from John Colquhoun (950 472 436)
