DESPITE the huge onslaught of jellyfish on its beaches, San Roque had a successful summer season. With no drownings, 28 successsful sea rescues and three lost children reunited with parents, the only negative was the occasional jellyfish invasion, said San Roque mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix.
Some jellyfish sting victims needed the attention from medics. Proteccion Civil who kept watch over the beaches from July until the start of this month did a “magnificent” job on a small budget, he said.
