Their new landlord gave the NGO a two for the price of one offer, so the shop now has a much-needed storage room. Some local business people have offered to pay the Fundraisers water bills. Shop manager Adene Martin told the EWN that The Fundraiser is a unique venture. It is a charity shop that supports several charities, does community work through the Turre Food Bank, and gives clothes to those in need.
This summer they plan to hold free painting mornings on Wednesdays for children. They call for local artists to come and teach children how to draw and paint. Paper, paint and objects like plant pots that children can have fun painting, are also needed. Shop customers will be asked to vote for the best painting with the prize being horse riding lessons.
Asprodalba, AECC (Cancer), Animo (horse riding for disabled children) and the Vera orphanage are some of the causes that The Fundraiser donates to. Adene Martin and her team of 17 volunteers raise money through the sale of second-hand clothes and household items, and by taking part in events such as the Be Nice Day sponsored walk last May.
