SHOCKING TREATMENT: Horses starve to death as owners lose interest. SHOCKING TREATMENT: Horses starve to death as owners lose interest.

TWO horses that were left to starve to death were rescued by the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre. A third horse was dead when the charity arrived. The Rescue Centre was alerted by two holiday makers who went to the group’s La Zenia charity shop and reported seeing the skeletal animals.

“We acted immediately,” says Sue Weeding, co-founder of Easy Horse Care, “and went straight to the premises that day where we found several horses that were left there starving. “It was an appalling state and I knew that if we didn't act quickly we would lose them.”

Sue and her team tracked down the owner of the premises who was equally shocked and assisted them in getting the horses out. “This is sadly just another example of how horses are just being left to starve to death as the owners lose interest or simply can't afford to keep them in these difficult economic times,” said Sue.

“Thanks to the great work happening in our charity shops and the public's support of them, we are able to help these and all the other horses and donkey's currently in our care.”

For more information call Sue on 652 021 980, visit www.easyhorsecare.net or follow them on Facebook. The Rescue Centre open days are every Sunday and Wednesday throughout the summer from 1-4pm.  Los Montesinos charity shop needs volunteers. If interested, please contact Vicky on 636 062 000.
