OPEN SATURDAY is due to return to Torrevieja this Autumn.  The campaign is jointly organised between the 'Commerce' department of the Ayuntamiento and the local businesses association, APYMECO. Each first and third Saturday evening between 6pm and 9pm, various individuals and groups will offer some form of entertainment / activity in central streets with a view to animating shopping in the town centre. The campaign is planned to continue throughout this autumn. The dates are October 6 and 20, November 3 and 17, and December 1 and 15.

Last week, a few of those from the International community were invited by the Department of Commerce and APYMECO to get together to meet each other and discuss future similar initiatives. Representing the 'international community' in the first campaign were; Phoenix Concert Band, G & T, Maurice & Alma with their dancing puppets, Just Brass, Greentown Irish duo, TKO radio roadshow and Torrevieja Cricket Club (with cricket in the street!), amongst others. Everyone said they enjoyed the experience of the opportunity to present their own particular form of entertainment to the public. Representatives from the Town Hall thanked those who participated and hoped that they will join in the new scheme along with new members from the International Community.
