Learn to save a life at the supermarket

The Andalucian Health Council, in collaboration with the Spanish Heart Foundation will be holding a series of first-aid sessions in Carrefour Hypermarkets throughout Andalucia, focusing on cardio-pulmonary conditions.

A team of 30 doctors, nurses and staff working in the 061 emergency service will show customers how to recognise a cardio-pulmonary emergency, how to perform life-saving first-aid and how to inform emergency services efficiently.

The campaign ‘Learn to Save a Life’ is aimed at making the public aware of the vital importance of being able to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation for someone suffering a heart attack or a respiratory crisis.

The doctors will encourage shoppers to follow a healthy lifestyle. They will explain the importance of avoiding conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, becoming overweight, and smoking, all of which can lead to life-threatening cardio-pulmonary diseases.
