Lucainena workshop students help the needy
• 06 Nov 2008 •
EIGHT unemployed students from the Lucainena workshop, that began on February 15, have started providing home care to more than 30 families in the town, a task that they will continue to perform until next February.
This employment workshop was promoted by the town council with support from the European Social Fund and Andalucia’s Employment Service, with the aim of training local unemployed women in dependent care, for which there is a great demand within the labour market.
The eight students have undergone theoretical and practical training in health and psycho-social matters.
Before being employed in people’s homes, they all received work experience at the Indasalud Residence in Sorbas.
The head teacher, Reyes Heredia, stated that the purpose of this workshop is for: “Training specialists in the care of the town’s vulnerable and sick people.” The women assist people with high dependency needs: to get up, to get washed, dressed, and undressed.
They also carry out household chores and do the cooking. The Mayor of Lucainena de las Torres, Juan Herrera, commended the objectives of the workshop: To train and provide practical work experience to Lucaiena’s unemployed women in order to make their incorporation into the labour market easier. Mayor Herrera also described the tasks they perform as being of public benefit. | Return to Top
