Alhaurin chess competition

 LAST Saturday, the covered pavillion of the Municipal Sports Centre in Alhaurin el Grande staged the XI edition of the Chess Open ‘Villa de Alhaurin el Grande’, part of the XIV Provincial Chess Circuit.
The event is being staged in 24 towns and villages throughout Malaga, with a total of 52 participants, some of them national and international masters. Saturday’s winner was a Russian, Vladimir Epischin, with the second prize going to Martin Lorencinni. In third place, a player from Alhaurin, Jose Francisco Blanco, saw his hard work pay off. Prizes of up to 1,200 euros were up for grabs, a more than convincing reason to participate in the event, although by far the most important factor, according to many of the participants, was the opportunity to meet and get to know people from so many different places who all share a common love of the game of chess. |  Return to Top
