Do´s and don’ts of hair care
|
BEAUTIFUL, healthy and stylish locks are sought after by anyone who is concerned about their appearance, in fact many will go to any lengths and spend large amounts of money on achieving their desired look.
These do’s and don’ts will help you keep your hair healthy, shiny and strong. Do use the right hair-care products for your specific hair type, because if your hair is damaged, dry or coloured, the correct products formulated to repair this damage will give your hair back its much needed shine and resilience.
On the other hand, if your hair is oily, use a deep-cleansing shampoo and light conditioner to keep it looking its best. The appropriate products should be at the base of your hair-care routine.
Don’t choose unprofessional and over-the-counter hair-care products as many of these only offer false hopes and promises. Do protect your hair with products that contain sunscreen.
Don’t expose your hair to excessive sun, chlorine or salt- water during the summer months as this can cause severe damage that is irreversible, even if you use the best hair-care products. Do shampoo your hair only when it is dirty as, contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to shampoo your hair daily. Doing so can make your hair dry and hard to work with.
Don’t use ‘clarifying’ hair-care products on your tresses more than one time per week as they can strip hair of moisture and essential oils. Do use only professional conditioning hair colouring systems, as the ones you choose can have a great impact on your hair care costs. Select a system that causes minimal damage and conditions the hair as it colours. This will save you money when it comes to conditioning hair-care products.
Don’t purchase hair colour that comes in a box. Do add texture to your style, through perm or cut, as this will greatly reduce the time it takes to style and perform your daily hair- care routine. And you will look sensational.
Don’t straighten your hair with a clothes iron. Straightening irons are available which won't damage your hair.
Do use a wide-toothed comb when your hair is wet, to prevent breakage.
Only use a brush during your hair-care routine when your hair is barely damp or dry. Don’t use sun-lightening products such as lemon juice or over-the-counter products designed to lighten hair with the sun, unless you want a very short hair-cut in the future. Remember these tips and add them to your hair-care routine and you will notice positive results.
