HEALTH - A study reveals that moderate amounts of alcohol can help women stay slim. Researchers found that normal-weight women who drank a little were at less risk of becoming overweight than those who consumed no alcohol. Scientists in the US studied more than 19,000 women aged 39 or older whose body mass index was in the "normal" range.

A STUDY on the species of mosquito mainly responsible for malaria transmission in Africa, ‘Anopheles gambiae’, showed that due to the fact that these mosquitoes mate only once in their lives, meddling with that process could significantly cut their numbers. Researchers from Imperial College London found that a ‘mating plug’ used by male mosquitoes to ensure their sperm stays in the right place in the female is essential for her to be able to fertilize eggs during her lifetime.
