Cats have a sixth sense about the kind of owners they need and, if they choose us, we should feel privileged -- even if they do cause us a great deal of trouble and expense!
Check if the cat has an owner. Ask neighbours in your street and adjoining streets. Ring the local vet and animal charities to see if somebody has reported losing their cat. Put up a notice in a local shop.
Cats tend to develop food allergies to a familiar food and these can be part of multiple allergies. Food intolerances tend to be to new foods and are usually present from birth, but can occur later in the cat's development. As far as an owner is concerned, the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment are similar.
BITCHES are more affectionate and easier to control than the male dog. They are about thirty per cent smaller and whatever their breed, tend to be more gentle with children. The bitch will come into season about every six months and this will last for around three weeks. The female is receptive to mating and extremely attractive to dogs that will instinctively try to mate.
I recently met Bill and Denise from Cat and Dog World Kennels, they had just taken a West Highland White Terrier, who had been with them for boarding, back to its owner. They were telling me about their Westie puppies, so we naturally got talking about the breed. Denise told me that West Highland White Terriers are happy, affectionate, busy little dogs who always want to be with the family and in the very thick of things, they can be quite mischievous and love a " rough and tumble" making them ideal family pets and very good companions.
START socializing your puppy through a training class after it has had its injections at around ten to twelve weeks. Do not listen to those that say one should not train a dog until it is six or twelve months old. If there is a special class for puppies under five months locally join it for they can allow for a pup’s attention span with short, positive, motivational sessions.
A cat can't tell you when it has tooth pain. But if a cat is going towards food, looking as if it is hungry, then taking only a bite or two and retreating, this may be tooth pain. Dribbling, refusal to eat hard food, bad breath, red inflamed gums, pawing at the mouth, blood in the mouth and teeth chattering are all other symptoms. Occasionally a cat in severe tooth pain will sometimes also pull its own fur out.
Many of my clients tell me that their dog is allowed to jump up next to them on the settee or chair whilst they are watching television. Most of them are smaller breeds, but a lot of larger breeds are afforded the same privilege. The majority of these dogs are also allowed onto the bed, if only for a cuddle in the morning.
