AYESHA WOOD has lived on the island of Mallorca
|
AYESHA WOOD has lived on the island of Mallorca for some ten years now. During that time, her life has changed dramatically. She first stayed on the east coast of Cala D’Or, but then discovered the famous resort of Magalluf, where she became a podium dancer at some of the discos and clubs in the area. She even took over some of the clubs and still carried on dancing. She then went on to manage the famous Karma Club in Puerto Portals, partly owned by Steve McFadden from EastEnders and, this winter, has also started her own business as an events organiser.
What made you come to Mallorca in the first place? A relationship that I was in broke up and I felt that I just had to get away. I met a girlfriend and we decided to look for summer work on the island and ended up in Cala D’Or.
Why did you decide to go to Magalluf after Cala D’Or? It was too quiet for us there; there was much more going on in Magalluf and it was much more fun.
What made you become a podium dancer? I have always loved dancing and, in those days, I really enjoyed dancing practically all night. It was all really good fun, but then I had the opportunity of taking over some of the clubs and still enjoyed dancing at the same time.
How long have you managed Karma? I have been managing Karma for five years now, but I don’t dance there. It is a completely different concept and people come from all over the island just to see it and have a drink.
What is Steve McFadden really like? He is a lovely guy, nothing like the bad tempered Phil Mitchell in EastEnders. He usually comes out a couple of times in summer to enjoy the atmosphere of Karma and catch up with all his friends out here.
Would you be a podium dancer again? No, never. My boyfriend, Rob, wouldn’t like me doing it and I would honestly feel really stupid, although I still like dancing, but not on a podium. | Return to Top
