LAST month there was something to celebrate in restaurant Longhorn in Benalmadena Pueblo: the popular BBQ was one year old.

This offering takes place every Sunday from 1pm to 10pm and every Monday evening starting at 6.30pm.

The variety of meats for the BBQ has been expanded and now offers the best beef from northern Spain and Argentina and also varieties from the United States and subject to availability from Australia too. Anyone looking for a change can also order Spare Ribs and grilled chicken breast. The price is €16.50 per person, including a mixed salad and a baked potato. You can also reorder as often as you like!

The kitchen team was strengthened last year and ensures a speedy quality service even at peak times and on the hopefully soon open terraces.

Meanwhile the restaurant is now open every evening.

Have you already tried the top speciality of the Longhorn? It gets meat lovers excited: ‘Dry Aged’ steaks are praised to be the best steaks in the world. Traditional maturing process of beef on the bone. Ripening conditions 21 to 28 days, with 60 per cent humidity and a constant temperature of one degree. The meat changes its taste by enzymatic activity in the muscle. In the US sirloin matured on the bone has been a cult for decades.

As a further mark of quality Claus, the owner of the Longhorn, has determined that the meat pieces for this maturing process come only from cows that had a long life of eight years and more exclusively on pasture. The meat of these older animals differs greatly from the usual ‘young’ animals. The flesh is deep red and the fat forms a fine film that instantly melts on the grill and gives a wonderful smell of milk and hay.

These steaks are sold in Longhorn by weight and can be shared between two/three meat fans!

For your diary Claus has an important date: The fifth ‘Steaktasting’ will take place on Saturday, March 28 from 1.30pm to 5pm. Try up to eight different types of meat from the grill and enjoy interesting wines from Spain and Argentina. Cost is 20€ per person.
