NOTHING conjures up memories of ‘home’ quite like fish and chips, and you will not get better than at La Parra Gold in Los Boliches, Fuengirola.

Owned and run by John the fish, this well established firm favourite received a complete refurbishment in September 2013 and has been answering locals’ and tourists’ prayers for their favourite treat ever since.

John and his staff take pride in the fact that everything on their menu is produced from only the freshest ingredients, from his fish, to vegetables and salads. As John says: “One of the failings in some restaurants is that they use frozen produce. We buy everything in fresh and make everything here in our kitchen, from starters to mains to desserts. Working alongside me in the kitchen is Steve and we are both committed to providing real food for our customers, if they only ever visit my restaurant once, I want them to have eaten a really good meal.

“Having said that, we have a core group of regulars that come in every single week, they often come and have a meal before they go out for the evening, but every Friday it is like a madhouse in here, we have people queuing outside waiting for the next available table.”

La Parra Gold is great value for money whatever you are looking for, breakfasts from €2.50, a €5 menu, which is available Monday to Friday from 1pm until 6pm offering fish and chips, pies, curry and burgers as well as a tapas menu if you just want a lighter option.

The menu of the day is especially popular featuring two starters, a choice from the main menu and a dessert for just €7.95 and their meal deals of fish and chips, bread and butter and a drink start at €6.95 for a small and €12.95 for a jumbo size.

Waiters Jamie and Ross are always happy to suggest what is best from the day’s menu.
