CALA MILLOR - PLANNING has gone ahead to create a bicycle path to connect the beaches of Cala Millor and Sa Coma for this coming summer. The mayor of Sant Llorenç, Mateu Puigros, has pushed for this idea with much enthusiasm as he believes it will not only be attractive to neighbours and tourists but will also create three months of work for 20 labourers.

The stretch will start on Calle Baladres and will run along for 1,621 metres via the Avenida Las Palmeras terminating at the beach of Sa Coma. The estimate for the project amounts to 118,906 Euros and will go towards creating a cycle path of typical red tarmac with wooden posts to separate it from the main road. It will be 2.5 metres wide with regular parking spots to chain bikes to. The hope is that this will be a positive investment which will allow for more “Natural Tourism”, something the island is trying to promote more. Puigrós claims that the philosophy behind the project is to make the area more attractive and interesting for both residents of the area and for the many tourists that flock to this region in the summer months.
