Preparations for England’s World Cup bid have been handed another hammer blow. The Team were allegedly bugged during a team meeting with Fabio Capello that took place before they departed for international duty in Egypt last week.

It is understood the eavesdropping took place at a meeting room in the team’s hotel and the FA are now stepping up security surrounding preparations for South Africa. The tapes have been offered to several Sunday newspapers and speculation abounds that the contents of the tapes are  ‘dynamite’.

The FA have placed the matter into the hands of their lawyers who have issued an injunction and moved to blocked any publication of the material that has been illegally gathered.

After the recent upheaval with sex scandals and having to strip John Terry of the captancy, Fabio Capello will be no doubt be bracing himself for yet more controversy.
