TWO residents of Roquetas de Mar have been arrested by the Guardia Civil accused of postal drug smuggling. Police detected a packet containing 323 grams of cocaine, hidden in a secret compartment in a wine set, that had arrived by mail from Argentina, addressed to a Zurgeña home.

TWO residents of Roquetas de Mar have been arrested by the Guardia Civil accused of postal drug smuggling. Police detected a packet containing 323 grams of cocaine, hidden in a secret compartment in a wine set, that had arrived by mail from Argentina, addressed to a Zurgeña home.
They began a surveillance operation at the post office, in an effort to identify the person who, they hoped, would turn up to collect it. This paid off and, when two men came to the post office and claimed the packet, they were arrested.
Officers also went to the house to which the packet had been addressed, only to find it to be a vacant property, which was owned by someone unrelated to the drug-traffickers.
At a court in Huercal Overa, one of the two men arrested was remanded in custody, pending a hearing.
