Climabus visits Almeria

Fundacion Oxigeno’s specially adapted bus.

Fundacion Oxigeno’s ‘Climabus’ is a modified vehicle that runs on biodiesel and provides information relating to climate change. The bus was located in the Parque de las Almadrabillas when it visited Almeria. Climabus is a mobile exhibition unit that consists of 18 panels, models and audiovisual equipment providing information on renewable energy sources and the environment, as well as two interactive computers. Also on show are a solar-powered oven and solar-powered shower.
Apart from Andalucia, the Climabus is scheduled to visit some 100 towns throughout Spain and Portugal. The exhibition, organised by Fundacion Oxigeno, is part of the campaign ‘Don’t change the climate, change yourself.’ The vehicle was donated by Burgos Council and in the 15 months since its operation, it has received 20,000 visitors and handed out 125,000 leaflets. Some of the activities offered by Climabus are lectures about climate change, for example one explaining that even a slight variation in global temperatures can cause floods, drought, famine and mass migration. Fundacion Oxigeno was founded in 2001 in Burgos. It carries out research into ecosystem restoration, bio-diversity and landscape conservation, and other scientific projects in collaboration with various universities.
