Old ferry terminal to be maritime museum

What used to be the old ferry terminal of the Trasmediterranea building in the Moll Vell is now the preferred site for a new maritime museum in Palma.
Representatives of the Balearic government, the Mallorca Council and Palma Council recently announced plans for the museum and stated that they hoped that a deal could be reached with the Ports Authority. The project was announced during a press conference in the Parc de la Mar by the Balearic Minister for the Environment, Miquel Angel Grimalt.  Speaking with the old city wall and five traditional fishing boats as a backdrop, he said that the three public authorities would be the founders of this new museum. However, he went on to say that it was hoped that other institutions such as the Central Ministry for the Environment would also come on board. Grimalt also stated that the building in the Moll Vell was ideal for an exhibition of this type, especially as it was close to the sea, so the museum could have floating exhibits.
